Biometrics Institute welcomes 163rd member and announces record delegate numbers for Biometrics 2014 show
London - 10 October 2014 - The Biometrics Institute is delighted to announce that Barclays Bank has just joined our independent and international membership network as the 163rd member. The Biometrics 2014: the future of identity starts here ! 21-23 October 2014 in London show, which will be held in London on the 21-23 October 2014 is showing record delegate numbers approaching 300 participants. The event is organised by Elsevier in partnershp with the Biometrics Institute who have joined forces to deliver a unique event.
"We have seen an incredible growth in the Biometrics Institute membership over the past few months", Isabelle Moeller, Chief Executive of the Biometrics Institute explains, "with 163 organisations representing over 500 individuals including organisations such as Barclays Bank (UK), ICAO, British Airways, Timpson (UK), PwC Luxembourg, Fujitsu North America, Danish Prison and Probation Service, Wells Fargo Bank USA but also as far afield as Biometria Aplicada from Mexico and Biomatica from Brazil."

"We are delighted by the support we have received from all areas of the industry and by the high-calibre of representatives on our Board," says Moeller, "many of our members and our Board Directors are attending the Biometrics 2014 show which is reaching record numbers, getting close to 300 for the conference and 800 visitors on the exhibition floor. The programme is very different from other events with its unconventional format of debates, an un-conference session, discussion panels and your are fortunate to hear from 80+ innovators of biometrics. Record numbers highlight that this is the programme and forum that the industry has been waiting for to focus on identities of the future. Organisations simply cannot afford to miss this event. Of the 300 conference attendees at least 50 are Biometrics Institute members representing financial services, government and industry. Santander, Barclays Bank, Caixa, Mastercard and Lloyds Bank are all part of this event.
Moeller stresses: "It is not too late to register and Biometrics Institute members can get the amazing delegate rate of £500 for the 3 day event. Considering membership starts from £425 for a user, it is not surprising that we have seen this increase in our membership numbers. As the Biometrics Institute's mission is to promote the responsible use of biometrics, we are thrilled to have gained such momentum and support".
The conference themes range from biometrics on mobile devices, with Samsung Electronics, to government applications at the borders, in law enforcement and developing economies. There will be a whole stream about biometrics in payments with the UK Cards Association, the British Retail Consortium, the Spanish Federation of Savings Banks and a discussion on customer authentication with Citi and Wells Fargo Bank. The third day will then focus on the important issue of Privacy with an interactive "ask the audience" format followed by the very important discussion on biometric vulnerabilities including panellists from the Biometrics Institute Vulnerablity Expert Group. The conference finalse is an un-conference, a delegate-driven session where delegates will be split into smaller working groups to discuss topics of interest that they have identitied.
The exhibition Biometrics Live ! includes 30 exhibitors with visitor sign up numbers are on par with other years. You can register for a free visitor pass. Upwards of 800 professionals are expected to attend the exhibition over the 2 days. The Biometrics Institute also has a booth at the show so come and meet us there!
The Biometrics Institute will host its Annual Drinks Reception on the Tuesday, 21 October 2014 from 6pm in the wonderful exhibition hall at Australia House.
The Biometrics Institute will also provide briefings about its current Biometrics Institute Trust Mark proposal. These are currently scheduled for Tuesday, 21 October lunch time in the conference room as well as during its Annual Drinks reception.
